All my life, my parents have loved traveling. They have always wanted me and my brother to experience as much as we can on our family vacations. Having said that, we have gone on some pretty awesome trips over the years. I thought I’d use this opportunity to share some of my adventures and hopefully inspire you to visit some of the places I’ve visited.
Last summer, we hiked up Old Rag Mountain, a hike that took us about six hours to complete and gave breathtaking views of Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. The best part of this hike was the ‘boulder scramble’ that happens toward the summit, which is just as intense as it sounds! If I had to use one word to describe this hike, it’d be exhilarating. I got a few bumps and bruises along the way, but would most definitely recommend this hike to anyone looking for a challenge. You can read more about the hike up Old Rag Mountainhere.
After a day of recovery, we drove to West Virginia to go whitewater rafting. We had previously rafted down the New River, so we decided to try the more difficult of the two passages down the Gauley River, the Upper Gauley. This trip features Class III to Class V+ rapids and a drop down a 14 foot waterfall. I was actually terrified during this trip, but was also so proud of myself. If you like whitewater rafting (and can handle taking a bit of a beating), this is the place to go!
Stay tuned to read about more of my travels!
