Bizdom U is a comprehensive, non-profit, entrepreneurship boot camp that trains, mentors and partners with aspiring entrepreneurs to launch and grow successful businesses. The program has been launched in Detroit, Michigan and Cleveland, Ohio by Dan Gilbert in January 2007 and May 2011, respectively. Local entrepreneurs and professionals who share their real-world experiences participate in the training. During the initial four month full-time program, entrepreneurs prepare plans for a business which must be located within the city's downtown core. Entrepreneurs whose plans are approved can receive up to $100,000 of start-up funding from the non-profit Bizdom fund. Bizdom U maintains a share of ownership in each business, using its share of the proceeds to fund future entrepreneurs that will launch more innovative businesses in these cities.
